Assignment 8
Today's Objectives
1. We will enter and change text.
2. We will add, select and edit text.
3. We will delete and copy text.
4. We will format characters.
5. The student will change fonts, styles and sizes.
Directions: Open document "wp4bu" and make the following changes to the document and "save as" "wp8". You must do a "save as" or you will lose the original document. (Why would you lose the original document if you do not "save as"? Do you understand the difference between "save" and "save as"?)
1. At the very top of the document, type today's date.
2. Delete SELECTING AND EDITING TEXT.
3. Copy the blue paragraph and paste it at the end of the document. You will select the blue paragraph and then you will select Edit from the Menu bar and select Copy. You will then position your I-beam at the end of the document and select Edit and Paste. (This will put the same information at the end of your document.
4. Cut the Green paragraph and move it to the beginning of the document. You will need to select the text and then chose edit and cut. Move your I-beam to the beginning of the text and select Edit and Paste. (This completely moves the text from one place to another where the copy command makes an additional copy of the text.)
5. Change the entire document font to Monotype Corsiva (remember, the font styles are arranged alphabetically on the Font drop-down menu). You will do this by selecting the entire document and selecting Format from the Menu bar and Font from the Font window. (How do you select the entire document? Use the Edit -> Select All command in Word.) Scroll through the choices until you find Monotype Corsiva. Then click on OK. (This will change how your text appears--you can do this as many times as you like in the future to find your preferred text type.) Change it back to either Arial or Times New Roman.
6. Underline the last line of the document. You will do this by selecting the last line of your document and selecting Format, Font and Underline Style. You will drag to the style that you want which would be the solid line. You will see two solid lines one is darker than the other. You decide! Then select OK. The OK always applies the command.
7. Bold today's date at the top of the document. (Try to figure it out--There are two ways to get the job done, can you figure out the two methods?)
8. Change today's date to size 36. Select the text and go to Format, Font and Size. Scroll down to size 36 and select OK.
9. At the very end of the document, on a separate line, type your name and double underline it. (Try and figure it out--if you need help - please ask.
