Satellite Centers
Satellite Centers meet throughout the county These local groups meet in townships halls, church halls, Lion's Clubs, VFW halls, American Legions, etc., once a month, bi-weekly or weekly, depending on the preference of the group. Many groups hold potluck luncheons or partake in the CoA's Senior Nutrition Program's Congregate meals. A number of the groups meet socially to play cards and/or bingo, while others have regularly scheduled business meetings.
Each group can count on the programmer from the area senior center attending their satellite center's meetings once a month. The programmer does an overview of coming events at the senior center. They also arrange special programs for the satellite groups and may also take blood pressures for the group.
The satellite centers provide a place in the local communities where smaller groups of senior citizens can meet and socialize, enjoy a good meal and take advantage of portions of the programming which are available on a larger scale at the area senior centers.
