Today's Objectives:
1. Know how to enter an address into the address box.
2. Understand how a search engine works.
2. Know how to enter information into the search box on a search engine.
4. Demonstrate understanding of different matches/hits on different search engines.
There are other search engines in addition to the Ask site that we use. Ask and Google are very good ones, but you may want to look at some of the others. Practice with them and of course, use the one that suits your taste the best.
There is a very good site that explains search engines, how they work and rates some of them. This is a great reference site as you get more familiar with the Internet. We are looking for "The Spiders Apprentice", a reference to exploring the web. You can find links to it by going to Ask. In the search box put "Search Engine Guide". Look for a link that has www.monash as its name. Click on it and read about search engines.
Now, Select a topic that is of interest to you. Use what we have learned to collect information on this topic.
*Use the topic on any search engine that you are comfortable with. Remember to use the Dictionary, Encyclopedia and HowStuffWorks sites when they apply. Print this page to work from.

Note in the list above that there are Search Engines for tutorials and help (computer support). You will be able to find others on various topics. The internet is beginning to open up new worlds for you.
