Assignment 10

Today's Objectives:

1. Understand how to type in the address www.yahoo.com, and that the Address Bar contains the address of the page you are viewing.

2. Recognize one of the links offered by www.yahoo.com called MAP, and from google called MAPS.

3. Understand that you can get maps of any area or specific driving instructions to a specific destination.

4. Enter correct information to get specific driving instructions.

We will look at two mapping sites:

DIRECTIONS. You will need to visit www.yahoo.com. This is our default page in class, but if you are at your home computer, you would need to type in the address. You can get there in class by single-clicking on the Home button or typing in the above address. Upon arriving to www.yahoo.com, you need to locate the link to MAPS.  Look for the word Maps in Purple at the top of the site. You will need to follow this link to see the MAPS site and page.

 

Once the Yahoo maps page shows, enter your home address in the address boxes.  Press the Get Map button to obtain the map of your home.  Note that on the right hand side of the page there is a link to nearby businesses.  Click on the Restaurant link.  You can obtain a list of nearby restaurants around the location you asked for a map

Also note that above your map, you can ask for Driving Directions both TO and FROM the first address you entered. Enter a second address and note the complete set of instructions between your two addresses.

You should see a similar window in which to enter information after following the link for DRIVING DIRECTIONS.

Upon entering the information that is requested from you, you will single-click on the Get Directions button.

- Find directions to 5 locations from you house. While doing this assignment, choose addresses that you are familiar with for your future use--IF POSSIBLE.
