Bridging The Gap Across The Generations

The Program That Makes A Powerful Impact...

on the lives of children and seniors in our community. If you are 60 or over and not ready to sit in a rocking chair wasting away the hours watching television...maybe becoming a volunteer with the Foster Grandparent program is the answer for you. Volunteers give 20 hours a week to be "Grandma" or "Grandpa" in the schools, Headstart programs or other community service agencies under the supervision of staff. If you are trying to survive on a limited income, you may be eligible for compensation through a tax exempt stipend of over $200 a month that is NOT counted as income towards eligibility for other Government programs of assistance. Transportation assistance or mileage reimbursement, a daily meal, annual physical, social and recognition events are a few of the other benefits. None of these compare, though, to knowing you spent four hours of your day helping to make a difference in the life of a child who needs you.
