NEW October 20 at 2:00 p.m. Special Group for survivors of brain injuries of all types (for example, stroke, auto injury, military injury, concussion). Survivors, caretakers and family members are welcome. Attendees will specify preferred subject matter. Group will meet the third Friday each month.

Easy No-Sew Burlap Pumpkins Class on Monday, October 2 at 2:00 p.m. Nothing says fall like the texture of burlap…and pumpkins. All the supplies will be provided for this easy project. Supplies fee is $8. RSVP to Lori.

Fall Bowling League at Holly Meadows, Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. This informal non-sanctioned league includes 3 games for $6, shoes available for $2. Bowlers are not obligated to bowl each week or pay for weeks missed. Stop in and give it a try.

Flu Shots available on Wednesday, October 18 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon. Bring identification and insurance card. Shots will be administered by Home Health Care.

Paint & Go with instructor Char Ellis is offered on Friday, October 13 at 1:00 p.m. This class will be painting a detailed fall design of a large pumpkin in the foreground and a country scene in the distance on an 8 x 10 canvas. Supply fee is $5, suggested instructor donation is $5.

We’re Booked Book review group will meet on October 24 at 2:00 p.m. in the pergola and enjoy cider and donuts with our discussion. The book selection for the month is Halloween Party by Agatha Christie.

Needles & Hooks meets on October 3, October 17 and October 31 at 1:00 p.m. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Learn how to make “Knitted Knockers” or work on your current project while enjoying the company of others. “Knitted Knockers” are soft, special comfortable, knit prosthetics for breast cancer survivors. Our donations are given to the University of Michigan Hospital. We have had positive feedback from the hospital and they are out of “Knitted Knockers” so we need your help. We have patterns for making knitted or crocheted knockers, come in for complete details.

Spooky Fun & Games on October 31 beginning at 12:00 noon. RSVP for lunch. Wear black & orange or a costume! “Boo Bunco” begins at 1:00 p.m. Suggested donation $2.

Paper Crafts begins at 2:00 p.m. on October 5 and October 19. Work with stamps, Cricut, embosser. We have everything you need to create greeting cards, trading cards or complete scrapbook pages! Bring your ideas and photos and enjoy time with fellow scrapers.



November 29 at 6:00 p.m. is the Cranberry Chicken Dinner and “The Story of the Capac Cranberry Then Now,” presented by local historian Roxann Mills. A cranberry chicken dinner will be served. RSVP by November 22 with the suggested donation of $12 per person.

Volunteer and help pack “Cookies for Veterans” on November 6 at 2:00 p.m. The Conrad Community Center volunteers will work with McLaren Port Huron Foundation and the Capac Community Health Team to provide handmade greeting cards and a box full of fresh cookies to veterans in the area as a thank you to them for their service to our country. All supplies will be provided, just bring a happy heart and willing hands.

November 10 at 12:00 noon Remembering Veterans, POW’s and MIA’s. Please join community members  for lunch to honor veterans. Please RSVP for lunch and let us know if you are a veteran. Call 810-395-7889.

Christmas is around the corner. Sewn, knitted or crocheted Christmas stockings are another service you can volunteer to help make. These will be distributed to homebound seniors in December. Both groups Sew Fun and Needles & Hooks will be making Christmas stockings on a variety of dates in November (see calendar page). The stockings can be made from material (cotton blends, flannel or fleece) or yarn and should be similar in length (8-10 inches long). Patterns and instructions are available. Please bring “tools of the trade” for whichever method you will be using to complete your stocking. Beginners welcome, we will share supplies with you.


Not crafty? We need You, too! Accepting donations of travel size shampoo, lotion, soap, candy, crossword puzzle books, men’s or women’s footies or socks or any small items to stuff Christmas stockings for homebound seniors in our area. Items can be dropped off from November 1 through December 2. Stockings will be “stuffed” on December 5 at 2:00 p.m.

Crafty? We’re making a variety of crafts for the 3rd Annual Winter Berry Bazaar (previously called Indoor Winter Farmers Market) also on a variety of dates in November (see calendar).

“We’re Booked” will meet on November 28 at 1:00 p.m. for lunch at Steverino’s Restaurant in Emmett. Enjoying pizza and the warmth of a fireplace is the perfect setting to discuss this month’s selection Delancey: A Man, a Women, a Restaurant, a Marriage by Molly Wizenberg. Individuals will pay for lunch on their own and may order anything from the menu, not just pizza. RSVP to Lori by November 27 at 810-395-7889.

Paint & Go with instructor Char Ellis, is offered on Friday, November 10 at 1:00 p.m. The class will be painting a 6 x 8 sign, with three sections, the center is a pumpkin with the words “Give Thanks”, with scroll work with raised detail in gold. Supply fee is $5, suggested instructor donation is $5.

RSVP for Thanksgiving Party on November 22 beginning at 12:00 noon, “Things to be Thankful For” game and bunco ($2 suggested donation).
